Pictured in today’s Metro Herald is NASA’s space shuttle Atlantis touching down at The Kennedy Space Centre in Florida early yesterday morning. The landing of the 30 year old craft marks the end of NASA’s 30 year space journey.
In its lifetime, Atlantis completed 33 missions clocking up a total of 203 million kilometres and circled the earth 4,848 times.
Commander Christopher Ferguson eased Atlantis onto the runway and uttered the famous words ‘Mission complete Houston.’ to which Mission Control replied ‘Job well done America.’
NASA must now choose a rocket to complete its next big challenge- reaching Mars.
I wonder when they’re up there will they discover that men really are from Mars…
Nicola.
