If you are anything like me, when you hear the word spider you think small and creepy rather than small and cute. Pictured in today’s Irish Daily Mirror is a spider of a different kind.
Estela is a seven week old Spider Monkey who was abandoned by her mother shortly after being born on January 17th. Keepers at Australia’s Melbourne Zoo have taken on the roll as ‘mammy’ and take it in turn to feed and monitor Estela’s condition.
Jess McKelson, a keeper at the zoo said ‘Keeping Estela alive has been a big challenge and she has had ups and downs over this time’. Estela, which means star in Spanish, really does have a twinkle in her eye.

All this is very hard work for such a little monkey.
