Culchie Check-ins

So how many of us actually use location based check-ins then? Have you got that one friend who must check-in at every location and tag everyone on Facebook along with them? Does it wreck your head when your news feed is filled with check-ins or when people have checked you in to a location when you didn’t actually want to be. I was a little thrown back last week at a new location when I made a passing comment “oooh I must check-in on foursquare” and a friend responded to say “You don’t actually check-in on Facebook do you??” “God

Off to the races

Taking inspiration from some of the amazing head gear at the royal wedding last week, the Pembroke ladies are off to Punchestown today sporting some fabulous head wear of their own. Looking good ladies!

The Royal Wedding: Great on so many levels!

Now that the Royal Wedding is finally done and dusted, we only have about another week until it will leave a void in a couple of areas. The first being our topic of conversations; who will wear what in the lead up to the wedding and then what people (in particular Pippa!) wore once the show was over. The second void will be in the media, it has taken up so many column inches and airtime since last November that those in charge of programming/editing are bound to miss the ready made news stories. I am not a Royal fanatic

Sister doing it for herself

On such an important event filled weekend, with the Royal Wedding today and Leinster’s clash with Toulouse tomorrow, it’s nice to see that some people are suiting themselves. Ireland’s closest thing to a princess, Amy Huberman decided to take the plunge and attend the Royal Wedding on her own, without her Irish rugby captain beau, Brian and a wise choice it was. Amy will enjoy a seat (probably back row seat, but she’s there nonetheless) in Westminster Abbey to witness the Royal Event of the century along with 1,900 other guests including every Royal from kingdom come and a couple

The verdict so far

Proving that everyone loves a wedding, even the lads in our office had a sneaky peak at Kate Middleton arriving at Westminster Abbey this morning. Understated, chic and oh-so-Grace Kelly, Kate’s dress is a resounding winner with the Pembroke ladies. However, while Kate looks amazing, she was nearly upstaged by her sister Pippa who wowed the crowds in her show-stopping Alexandra McQueen bridesmaid dress.

Royal Wedding Watching

This week (much to the dismay of my colleagues) I am all about the royal wedding. Yes it is completely overhyped and the media is milking it for all it is worth but I don’t care. I love it and everything that goes with it. A royal wedding indulges my love/obsession of all things celebrity and ever since the infamous ring went on Kate’s finger, I have been eagerly anticipating the big day. What will the dress be like, will Posh Spice try and upstage the bride and how does Miss Middleton get her hair so damn glossy are just

Decline in child vaccination uptake in Ireland a worrying trend

It was with a personal interest that I read today’s story in the Irish Independent in relation to the concern for children’s health due to the drop in the update of essential child vaccinations.  As a new(ish) mum, my little girl who is one is due her MMR this Thursday.  She has had all the necessary vaccinations from birth and while it is an upsetting experience for all involved (even the lovely nurses empathise how unpleasant it is) I do realise it is in my child’s benefit to be protected from illness and diseases and possibly more importantly, for the

What is in a name??

It was when trying to help Vodafone organise what proved to be an excellent event with All-Black legend and Laureus ambassador Sean Fitzpatrick I realised how unfortunate his name was in the current climate, as we love to say. Sharing the same name as the now disgraced Anglo banker from Greystones meant I had some difficulty trying to explain this to certain people when rounding up the troops.     All Black legend…. happier times for Seanie Fitz the Banker It got my simple little mind thinking……who else out there has the same name as someone who they may rather

Ireland’s Greatest Mascot

I love Mascots I have long been a fan of sporting mascots, the furry animal types of course. I am not sure when the fascination began, but I am pretty sure it was the late 1980s and the Irish soccer team mascot developed by Opel, the dog type creature McCul. I have memories of the various FIFA World Cup mascots as well from those sticker album days when we had dreams. Last Saturday, while doing the rounds trying to watch as much sport as possible, I popped in to see the end of the Old Belvedere v Clontarf AIL semi-final,
