The former Chelsea player flew out to join his new Liverpool team-mates at the club’s pre-season training camp in Switzerland on Monday. Our pic of the day is taken from the Irish Independent. It portrays a group of scantily clad cyclists taking part in the ‘Bare-it-all’ bike ride in Cork yesterday. The objective of this was to remind motorists that cyclists are nothing more than skin and bone. It also took place to encourage people to throw in their keys and opt for more human powered transport.

Proposals to tax or means-test child benefit payments in the next budget are becoming increasingly unlikely due to administrative and legal problems according to Carl O’Brien in the Irish Times this morning. Officials say there are significant problems in, for example, seeking to tax cohabiting couples with children. If tax on child benefit was not applied equally, officials warn that there could be constitutional difficulties if married people were treated worse than cohabiting couples. In addition, an audit and control system would need to be put in place, along with expensive administrative and information technology.   Lenders are going to hike

This morning’s Irish Independent leads with some bad news for learner drivers. Paul Melia believes that within weeks The Road Safety Authority will introduce tough new rules that will force learner drivers to undertake compulsory training before applying to sit their driving test.  This new process, which could cost them up to €700, will require all learners to take a set number of lessons from a qualified driving instructor and keep a logbook of their hours spent practicing. On the other hand, there is good news for property owners as the Irish Times suggests that a property tax is unlikely

Song of the Week

We are delighted with the news that Robbie has relit his fire with former band mates, it couldn’t be any more magic and we pray that they are back for good! To celebrate Robbie Williams reuniting with Take That, after 15 years of going solo, we decided to dedicate our Song of the Week to the top boybands of the 90’s. This week’s winner is Backstreet Boys with their smash hit Everybody (ev-ray-boooooooooood-aaaaay, hard not to sing it).
