I know it seems like the fashionable thing to do to promote the Irish language but I think the Bród Club initiative that Bernard Dunne and RTE are doing is great.
I signed up (admittedly more because someone asked me to!) but I got my first newsletter today where they’re asking people to use a cúpla focail in texts so what I learned today is GRMA = go raibh míle maith agat in text speak, I will try use it over the weekend!
Secondly, the newsletter showed you how to type a fada on a computer and on an iPhone. I did know how to do it on my PC but not on my phone so again this is really practical stuff which is great to know how to do. The instructions for iPhone (or should it be iFón?!) fadas is as follows… hold your finger on the letter & options will come up – just slide across to select the one with the fada – go hiontach!
So anyhow I reckon its well worth while signing up to, it’ll cost you nothing, and it will help bring a bit of Gaeilge back into our everyday lives – GRMA!
Oh, they’re also worth a follow on twitter @rtebrodclub
