The Sunday Business Post Goes Digital

The Sunday Business post launched their app a few months ago and as an avid reader of the Sunday print edition and subscriber to their online newsletter, I decided to try out the SBP app to see if it was worth the fuss (or as good as Pembroke’s chief made it out to be!). First thing to know is that the SBP app is an iPhone and iPad app, so a lot of readers who do not have this type of smartphone will have no access it as yet. However, no doubt an Android option will soon be available for

Viber is an application for iPhone® and Android™ phones (with a blackberry version in the making) that lets you make phone calls and send text messages for FREE to anyone else who also has the application installed. iPhone App of the Week- Evernote

Evernote (Free for iPhone) lets you create notes, snap photos, and record voice memos that you can then access any time from your iPhone, computer, or the web. It’s helpful when you can record thoughts as they come to you, whether you’re in a meeting, on route to work or on the way home.  We all want to be able to store information and retrieve it quickly and that’s exactly what Evernote offers.  While it has its flaws what smartphone app doesn’t?? Evernote has a great iPhone app, iPad app, Windows Phone 7 app, and Android phone app. If you’re near someone

iPhone App of the Week – Find My iPhone

We’ve all been in the situation where we’ve been in a frantic frenzy running around the house in order to grab some last minute necessities before rushing out the door. “Keys… Check. Wallet/ Purse… Check. Phone… Where’d I leave my phone??” Queue the frantic pat of the pockets or dig through the bag to no avail, as the realisation sets in that you’ve misplaced your iPhone. However all of the above might be a thing of the past as Apple’s free Find My iPhone app will do exactly what its name suggests – finding out where you misplaced your iPhone,

iPhone App of the Week – FilmOn Live TV

I came across this app last week thanks to a friend who has recently moved house and was desperate for her reality TV fix. FilmOn allows you to stream live TV straight to your iPhone or iPad and it apparently works with Apple TV too. The TV channel list is pretty impressive with a large number of UK stations including, ITV (1-4), BBC (1-2), Channel 5 and an exclusive list of FilmOn’s own film and sports channels. It’s a little bit buggy at times and can be slow to load but this app has generally worked pretty well for me.

iPhone App of the Week – Songify

Ever wanted to create your own music but find yourself deficient in musical talent? Now even the most tone deaf of iPhone owners can create sweet music, well kind of. Songify is a fun new app that allows you to turn speech into song! How does it work? Once you have downloaded the app you will need to think up a catchy phrase to form the words of your song. For example, I decided to write a song about the Pembroke office that goes, “We like pr, public relations equals communication. We like pr, yes we do.” You can see

iPhone App of the Week – Royal Wedding by Hello!

Yes, you read it correctly Hello, the shameless celebrity magazine has brought out an iPhone app celebrating all things plaid and diamond encrusted. This royal app is dedicated to the highly anticipated wedding of Prince William and queen to be Kate Middleton in London this year. The app is another step towards the frenzied excitement that will peak on April 29th when the royal family descend upon Westminster Abbey. If your office consists primarily of women, just like Pembroke Towers, then this will no doubt be searched out with giddy enthusiasm. Souvenirs for royal weddings are highly sought-after so in

iPhone App of The Week – QR Code Scanner

QR codes are set to be BIG for 2011. These square, scrambled symbols read like barcodes and have specific information for each formation. When you scan them with a device such as an iPhone you will be taken to a specific web page that will relate to the product or service being advertised. They can be seen everywhere, from the back of DVDs to outdoor billboards ads. They have proved very popular in many technology focused countries in Asia but they are set to become a new age marketers tool this year. QR codes represent a new digital way of

iPhone App of the Week – Irish Speed Traps

A few weeks ago the Gardaí and the Road Safety Authority launched their 700 mobile and static cameras across Ireland in the hope of urging people to slow down on our roads. Irish speed Traps was launched by an independent developer to help people become more aware of these cameras. All of the locations are preloaded in the app but of course cannot forewarn you of where the Garda mobile units are located. When driving with the app launched it will give you both an audio and visual announcement when approaching a speed camera. You can set the app to
