Workplace Fashion: Pembroke Ladies Grace Irish Tatler

The Pembroke ladies are showing off their work wardrobes in May’s issue of Irish Tatler which is out today. Knowing what to wear in the office can be a challenge – whether you’re starting out as a young professional or stuck in a style rut. That’s why I love the ‘9 to 5’ in Irish Tatler as not only does it give us instant style inspiration but it also provides a snapshot into the working wardrobes of Irish women.   CAPSULE WARDROBE At the risk of sounding like Gok Wan, I think a capsule wardrobe is essential to dressing successfully

Alcohol Sponsorship: A Response

After reading a recent blog on our blog, this response was sent to the office. This is one of the most honest, open and fascinating blogs we will have ever posted. The person’s identity has been withheld, but what is most fascinating is how sport has helped to save him and after all is said and done, it is education and awareness and not an outright ban on alcohol sponsorship he is advocating. The day before I was released from Loughlin House prison in Co. Cavan, I watched some tennis tournament. One of the Williams sisters had just won it. She

RTÉ Player pauses for tea break

Isn’t it strange that advertisements can almost tell what you’re thinking? Every evening, I like to catch up with the daily soaps, my favourite being Eastenders. RTÉ player is the most convenient place for me to keep up to date with the comings and goings of the East End, so it has become my first port of call for catch-up television. Yesterday evening, sitting on my bed, I pressed play and the theme tune started to roll. At about thirty seconds in I felt a craving like no other for a hot cup of tea and a few custard creams,

Monart Destination Spa – A Review!

With days left to take but not many weeks left to take them, the better half and I hit the N11 for a few days away recently and decided to make it our Christmas treat to each other because to be fair, it is not every day of the week that we rock up to a ‘five star – destination spa’ no less! Having dropped the little one off to the grandparents in the sunny south east, the next stop was Monart in Wexford. Monart House itself dates back to 1740 but this latest incarnation has been under the control

Jimmy’s winning matches…. And sport psychology is playing a major role in how he’s doing it.

Jim McGuinness has been paid the ultimate compliment by being recognised by another sport, in another country, for another role as a result of the success he’s had with Donegal.  Celtic clearly took a lot of notice of the skill set the Glenties man has that catapulted Donegal to All Ireland success. In just two years Jim McGuiness transformed a team that, in 2010 prior to him taking the reigns, had gone out in the early qualifier rounds. I believe that Jim McGuinness’s qualification and experience with sport psychology had a massive amount to do with the success he brought

Fade Street Social – A Review!

This may well be a new departure for me! A blog that has nothing to do with sport or the business of sport and sponsorship or indeed with the Irish language…instead a blog about food and in particular a recent visit to a rather high profile restaurant! Will it be a once off foodie blog or will this be the first of many?   Sure we’ll give it a shot and see where it goes!   Fade Street Social…a review!   So it’s here. After much legal wrangling the doors of Dylan McGrath’s latest venture have finally opened and judging

Happy Movember!

It’s that time of year again – Movember. It’s around this date every year when those niggling suspicions are confirmed that the guy who gets the same train as you every morning did not just sleep it out the last couple of mornings, but is in the process of growing a world-class moustache. For those of you out there sporting a Mo, we salute you! Men don’t always talk about their health concerns and that’s why this campaign is so great! Here’s a video which shows how successful the campaign has been to date in raising awareness (and funds)… And for

A Male Perspective

Published on August 29, 2012 by in Health

Although there has been talk of it for some years now, it seems that scientists are finally much closer to developing a ready packaged male contraceptive pill. Over the past few weeks media and medical journals have been in a flurry around a potentially promising contraceptive pill for men and although still at a test stage, this new pill has been deemed ‘groundbreaking’ already. American medical journal ‘Cell’ reported that the pill will essentially block sperm production (making men temporarily infertile) but without hampering drive. All ‘normal’ behaviour including sperm production was found to go back to normal after the
