Drinkaware.ie Making Full Sense in their Campaigns

I am one of the thousands of Irish people that has given up drink for January, along with a good few other New Year’s resolutions! The latest drinkaware.ie campaign came to my attention today and, like all a lot of their previous campaigns, it makes perfect sense to me. The website that supplies information to Irish consumers on the responsible consumption of alcohol is not encouraging people to drop drink for January. It is encouraging people to drink in moderation so instead of abstaining for the first month of the year and then bingeing for the next 11 they are

What we Googled in 2012

Every year Google’s Zeitgeist of the world’s most searched topics reveals what the we were interested in and wanted to know more about. So what about the Irish? The top trending searches are pretty much the topics and news stories you would expect with a combination of sports (Euro 2012, Olympics and Katie Taylor) and news stories (Household charge, Jill Meagher and Kate Midleton). It is the the other searches that reveal a little more. Clearly the Irish are an amorous bunch, or at least want to learn how to be. Love is top of the ‘What is..?’ searches while in the

Ghost in the Elevator! Hilarious or Scary?

What would you do if while you were riding an elevator, the lights flickered off and when they came back on, there was a strange, ghostly little girl clutching a baby doll staring at you and screaming at the top of her lungs? In this clip called “Ghost in the Elevator,” you can see the reactions of some unsuspecting people. I must say the reactions are priceless. Several people attempt to not look at her or just ignore the girl, perhaps hoping she’ll disappear. Others visibly recoil and make their way toward the far corners away from the little girl.

I love LOVE HATE

Last year I randomly came upon RTE’s Love Hate at the beginning of the season and became enthralled with the series. Instead of living with a dreaded fear of Sunday evenings I would really look forward to them and capping off the weekend with Nidge and co. So…. I waited very impatiently for season three to begin this year and now, two episodes in, there are elements of the series that I still love but there are now elements I unfortunately hate. Episode one produced some of the most horrific scenes I have seen on TV (its fair to say

The Journey!

It’s perhaps a little too early for Christmas ads but when I came across this one it would have been rude not to share! The new John Lewis Christmas TV ad celebrates the extra mile we all go to at Christmas to find the perfect gift. Ok, yes you’re watching a snowman’s journey but while you travel with him and listen to the stunning music you’re sure to be touched by it. The ad is called ‘The Journey’, it opens in a family’s snow-covered garden, with children making a snowman and snowwoman. When the snowman has mysteriously disappeared the next

Fade Street Social – A Review!

This may well be a new departure for me! A blog that has nothing to do with sport or the business of sport and sponsorship or indeed with the Irish language…instead a blog about food and in particular a recent visit to a rather high profile restaurant! Will it be a once off foodie blog or will this be the first of many?   Sure we’ll give it a shot and see where it goes!   Fade Street Social…a review!   So it’s here. After much legal wrangling the doors of Dylan McGrath’s latest venture have finally opened and judging

Love is in the air

There’s a lot of love out there today. PatCat are glowing as they reveal all about their new found happiness as man and wife. Cat Deeley believes that their 20 years of friendship is a great basis on which to her marriage to funny guy Patrick Kielty. Newly re-elected President Obama has declared his love for wife of 20 years, First Lady Michelle and his love of watching America fall in love with her… told you there was a lot of love out there. My favourite love story of the day though is couple Wu Sognshi aged 103 and Wu

Video of the Day: Destination Middle Earth

Probably one of the biggest bugbears for airline crews the world over must be a passenger’s inability to pay attention during the safety demonstration. I know that I am guilty of this and let’s face it in the case of an emergency I am going to wish I had torn myself away from Grazia long enough to find out where my life jacket is stored. So when I came across this video by Air New Zealand this week, I thought it was a perfect example of how to make airline safety interesting, while also promoting New Zealand as a
