Preparations for Paddy’s Day.

Seeing as we’re nearing the international  day to celebrate being Irish (no matter how vague your ties are), I thought that today’s post should be appropriately green! While most of us here in the office are just  heading home for the weekend, It seems that the rest of the world are in full swing with preparations and plans to completely embrace the day. Here are just a few of the news stories I have come across this morning. It appears that Las Vegas wants to tip it’s hat to our emerald isle this weekend with it’s newly revamped sign! The

Dublin goes Digital for a day!

As I was walking into work this morning I felt my phone buzz in my pocket. A text so early? Surely not. Instead, it was the surprising jingle of an open WiFi connection nearby, a rarity in Dublin City, especially in the middle of O’Connell Street! It was only when I arrived into work and read the morning papers that I found out that today is Dublin Digital Day, a day devoted to the endless possibilities and potential a city can have when it goes wireless. The day marks the digitisation of Dublin, and a commitment from the city government,

Drinkaware.ie Making Full Sense in their Campaigns

I am one of the thousands of Irish people that has given up drink for January, along with a good few other New Year’s resolutions! The latest drinkaware.ie campaign came to my attention today and, like all a lot of their previous campaigns, it makes perfect sense to me. The website that supplies information to Irish consumers on the responsible consumption of alcohol is not encouraging people to drop drink for January. It is encouraging people to drink in moderation so instead of abstaining for the first month of the year and then bingeing for the next 11 they are

One brand which is spreading the love this Valentines is Moet & Chandon with the ‘Tag Your Love’ campaign. The special edition valentines  bottle is of course an eye catching pink.  What’s innovative about this special edition of the champagne is that the box contains a gold marker which customers can use to write messages for their loved ones directly onto the bottle.   The promotional video available below gives examples of different phrases one could write on the bottle including ‘Marry Me’ / ‘Let’s Fly to New

Creative Campaign – Tesco Homeplus Virtual Subway Store in South Korea

When grocery giant – Tesco / Homeplus as it is known in South Korea wanted to expand their market in South Korea they innovatively used QR codes to capture the public’s attention. South Korea statistically has one of the longest working days so the one barrier this campaign had to overcome was lack of time. Homeplus put up billboards throughout subway stations which contained a range of the supermarkets products accompanied by a QR code for each product. All commuters have to do is scan the QR code of each product they want which then transfers to their online basket. Once

Creative Campaign – Cadbury

When you think of innovative campaigns, there really are quite a few companies that spring to mind.  One company that stands out from the crowd and really gets people talking is most definitely Cadburys.  From drum playing gorillas and break dancing clothes, we are always waiting to see what they come up with next.  To our delight the international chocolate company cleverly used life-size mannequins on this chocolate bar billboard in Manhattan. The mannequins appear on the billboard to be tearing apart the chocolate bar and helping themselves to a nice chunk of Dairy Milk! Well this pic has defiantly

Creative Campaign – Sleepover at IKEA?

IKEA has brought their ‘Happy to Bed’ slogan to the next level by inviting 100 lucky customers to have a SLEEPOVER at their Lakeside (East London) store! The idea was born from the Facebook page created by IKEA fans ‘I wanna have a sleepover at IKEA’ which attracted over 98,000 fans. This amazing event which took place in November saw 100 lucky winners arrive at the store at 8pm in their essential PJ dress code, each guest was greeted with a mug of hot chocolate and provided with an evening of entertainment, bedtime stories and tips on how to get a

Creative Campaign – Evian Touch Screen Bus Stops

As part of Evian’s “Live Young” campaign, their advertising team tapped into the entertainment value of babies-doing-adult-things. Babies first featured in Evian’s campaigns back in 1998 performing synchronized swimming, but perhaps their most famous campaign featured Roller Babies who broke it down to some old school Sugar Hill Gang’s “Rapper’s Delight”. For their latest campaign they have decked out bus shelters in the US with some interactive screens that when touched prompt a baby to bust a move, which seems to humour the public and help endure the wait for a bus. It is unlikely these bus shelters will spread

Creative Campaign – Abstain for the All Blacks

This week’s creative campaign looks set to be a bit of a flop.  Telecom Corp, a team sponsor of the All-Blacks, plan to launch an advertising campaign in the coming weeks calling on fans to “Abstain for the All Blacks”. The idea is that fans will be given black rubber rings to wear to show they are supporting the abstinence campaign which Telecom is hoping will galvanise support for the All Blacks. The campaign which is being fronted by former All Blacks captain Sean Fitzpatrick is suppose to be tongue-in-cheek and tap into Kiwi humor, but a New Zealand Herald online

Creative Campaign – Intel

Intel launched an action-adventure video titled “The Chase” earlier this year to help build awareness and excitement around the 2nd Generation Intel Core i5 processor. The video features an action-style chase sequence that takes place through a variety of program windows on a computer desktop. With over 2.5 million hits, the campaign has certainly served its purpose. If you haven’t seen it yet, it is well worth a watch.
