Bromance In Irish Sport

Bromance* in Irish Sport Bromance is a post-millennium phenomena, although it can be traced way back to Aristotle’s classic description of friendship – circa 300BC – for all you philosophy types out there. Bromance has been brought to our attention in popular culture by popular TV pairings such as Joey and Chandler, Turk and DJ and they typify the relationships that many ‘modern men’ share.  MTV even focused on it in a six-part TV series, hosted by Brody Jenner, he discussed his relationships and in turn his bromances with his MTV male castmates. Leinster’s Liam Rushe and Ryan O’Dwyer typify

GAA and alleged payments to managers

Uncovering the debate on the GAA and payments to managers The difficult issue of payments to top GAA managers has been brought to the attention of the national media once again by the publication of a discussion document by GAA director general Paraic Duffy last week.  After all, in more recent times we have been hearing whispers that top county managers are being paid up to six-figure sums per year. There are three possible options proposed by Duffy’s report. Those are, continue with the current policy, implement the Association’s existing rules fully or introduce a new system to regulate payments

Glossy Thursdays

Hurrah, it’s the first Thursday in January and The Gloss is in the office. No sign of doom and gloom from this glossy paged wish list of lovely things.  While the bank account may well be crying at this stage despite protestations of an ‘austere’ (hate that word) Christmas, don’t let that stop you making mental ‘must have’ lists to cheer the soul. Gorgeously affordable jeans sit alongside an eye-wateringly expensive shearling jacket.  Internal reasoning states – I’ll have it for years, and on an investment per wear basis it’s actually very good value…… (ahem, yeah right).  Shoes and bags,

From the Land Down Under? Blog post 1

As my Pembroke friends are out celebrating year two of the P’OSCARS aka Pembroke Oscars, I’ve decided to venture back into one of my favourite places- Irish Media Watch. I received a frantic text from Ciara last night to tell me the blog had gone “down under” (lol sorry I couldn’t resist that one) or at least she couldn’t figure out what was wrong. “It seems to be reverting back to the old blog for some reason” and so I thought the only way to find out what’s wrong is to test it out – hence my first blog post

2011 Awards for Excellence in Public Relations

Last week was a great day for PR agencies in Ireland as the industry celebrated the best in the business at the 2011 Awards for Excellence in Public Relations hosted by the  the Public Relations Consultants Association (PRCA), Public Relations Institute of Ireland (PRII) and the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (Northern Ireland region). It was an honour to even have been shortlisted among what can only described as some very successful campaigns all showing excellence in PR and we were delighted to be awarded with four PR Excellence Awards for our work with Dublin Zoo, the Virginia Pumpkin Festival,

GAA Blog – CSI: The Sunday Game

They might not be receiving the same viewing figures as their US counterparts CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, but RTÉ’s own version of the hit series, CSI: the Sunday Game, has gained a cult following throughout the GAA over the years causing much debate and even greater controversy. This summer has been no different and in the past month alone we’ve been subject to both ‘Twittergate’ and ‘Carthygate’. Although the latter wasn’t technically induced by the Sunday Game, it does make one wonder which inter county star ‘Sheriff Cahill’ and his “Deputies” will be gunning down next??? Donegal got a lashing

Blog of the Week – Swear I’m Not Paul

With the spring sun finally peeking its head through the clouds, I started thinking about the festival season. No mentions of possible snow this weekend please! While summer nights are a few months away, festival fever is starting to burn bright with a strong Oxegen line up declared and Electric Picnic to announce their headline acts this Thursday. With this in mind our blog of the week is the well-know music site, Swear I’m not Paul. This site is an international music archive with a focus on Irish artists, it’s a great place to check out upcoming gigs and album
