Sports Pic of the Day – The Cost of Success

Today’s Sports Picture of the Day is courtesy of the Irish Times who outline the wages being afforded to the top brass in the FAI. On the back of yesterday’s news that Giovanni Trapattoni and his team have signed a two year extension to their contracts, Malachy Clerkin demonstrates how the Italian compares to fellow international managers. It is astounding to think that ‘Trap’ is paid €1.5 million, only three hundred thousand less than Vicente Del Bosque who guided the Spanish to World Cup glory in 2010, while his assistant Marco Tardelli is reputed to be in the same wage

Pic of the day – Want to get high?

I’m no fan of heights but our pic of the day shows someone that appears to be quite comfortable high up in the sky.  Pictured in today’s Irish Daily Mirror is Mich Kemeter who chose to adopt a praying position on the Taft Point highline in California.    Mich took tightrope walking to a new extreme with just a thin strip of material between him and certain death.  These amazing images show him performing the dangerous craze of highlining – tightrope walking at some of the world’s most terrifying locations.  I get dizzy going to the top of the Dublin

Sports Pic of the Day

As the weather deteriorates across the country with high winds and persistent rain becoming more constant, not everybody seems to be complaining. Today’s Irish Examiner depicts Ray Ramones kite surfing in the rough seas around Garretstown, Co. Cork

Oh you lusty lot!

We love our surveys in Pembroke and the interesting facts that come from them too! One of our fabulous clients Hotels.com ran a new survey and according to the results we Irish don’t just go on holidays for the usual sun, sea and sand.  I’m sure you can probably all fill in the blanks and guess what was revealed about Irish people and their holiday romance habits.   Everything really has been revealed with 35% of the people surveyed saying they have had a holiday romance and 37% have had more than one in their lifetime.  1 in 3 are

Pic of the Day – Let there be light!

Continuing on yesterday’s crackers theme and how Christmas affects our state of mind, this picture captures my absolute worst nightmare.  Pictured in today’s Irish Daily Mirror is William Tilly outside his brightly decorated home in Dublin.    William Tilly is turning his home in Sandymount into a winter wonderland by decorating it with Christmas lights and seasonal decorations.  This has turned into a tradition of Williams and he has been decking his house out for over 12 years.  Even though William is raising his ESB bill, this year he hopes to also raise funds for Our Lady’s Hospice and Care

Sports Pic of the Day – Passing of a Legend

The football world was in morning over the weekend after the untimely passing of the Wales manager and former Premier League great, Gary Speed. The emotion could be seen throughout the playing fields of the Premiership yesterday as Shay Given, a close friend of Speed’s, was visibly upset before and during Aston Villa’s trip to Swansea, while Craig Bellamy was pulled from the Liverpool squad to face Manchester City. Speed played for a host of clubs throughout his career that spanned two decades including Bolton, Newcastle, Everton, Sheffield United and Leeds United. It was at Elland Road where the then

Pic of the Day – Who’s on the pull this Christmas?

I find that Christmas tends to send people a little crackers!  A fine example can be seen in today’s Metro Herald where models Louise Johnston and Rosanna Purcell practise for the Guinness World Record attempt for the most simultaneous Christmas cracker pulls.    This World Record Attempt is in aid of The Simon Community and is taking place in Hannover Quay, Spencer Dock, Dublin 2 on December 2nd at 12pm. The record attempt is an effort by Carphone Warehouse to raise money for The Simon Community. The record currently stands at 1.570 and they are aiming to top that by achieving

Song of the Week – Rihanna

In honour of Rihanna’s visit to Dublin, we paid tribute to her in this week’s Song of the Week. There was a vast choice so in the end we split the songs in two categories; Rihanna, The Early Years (i.e. when she wasn’t stripping off in fields in Co. Down) and Recent Hits. After a lot of discussion (somewhat heated in places) the final tally of votes threw up the pop classic “Don’t Stop The Music” and current chart-topper “We Found Love”. Happy Friday everyone!

Sports Pic of the Day

Former teammates Michael Ballack and Petr Cech still have something in common… Both had to play through the pain barrier and wear somewhat ridiculous headwear during last night’s encounter in the Champions League. Ballack’s Bayer Leverkusen got the better of his old employers as the home side won 2-1.
