Pic Of The Day- Don’t Supersize Me!

Pictured in today’s Irish Independent is youngsters Evan Cooper Fitzpatrick, Neil Gallogly and Liam Cooper Fitzpatrick. The trio are dining on healthy meals as part of a new initiative for healthier menu options for children in Irish restaurants. IBEC’s Nutrition and Health foundation is teaming up with the Restaurants Association of Ireland to give children a healthier choice of meals in restaurants. The initiative aims to rid kiddie’s menus of the old fatty favourite, chicken nuggets and chips. It seems food giant McDonald’s are following suit in the US, ditching the oversized portions of fries, and introducing a fruit or

Pic Of The Day- Wanna Bet?

Pictured in today’s Irish Independent are Rosaleen McDonnell and Teresa McCabe enjoying a day out at the Galway Races in Ballybrit yesterday. The ladies are eyeing up the form with much consideration and placing their bets hoping for a big win on the opening day of the week-long summer race meeting. We wonder will the finely dressed pair make an appearance on Thursday to compete in their own competition on Ladies Day! The Galway Races run from the 25th to the 31st of July at the Galway Racecourse. Nicola.

Pic Of The Day- A Cut Above

Pictured in today’s Metro Herald is the Ride on Mower Guinness World Record Attempt which took place yesterday in Dunnamaggin, Co.Kilkenny.  The tiny village came out ‘a cut above’ the rest with 708 mowers driven simultaneously for one minute across the local GAA grounds.  This certainly ‘mowed down’ the competition with the previous record being just 86 mowers.  The event was a huge success and raised thousands for The Camphill Community and Dunnamaggin GAA.  The Camphill Community of Ballytobin is situated within the Parish of Dunnamaggin and is a therapeutic community for adults and children with special needs.  Dunnamaggin

Song of the Week

In light of Tiger Woods and caddie Steve Williams publicly breaking up during the week, the songs shortlisted for this week’s song of the week all come from bands that broke up on bad terms. Oasis – Wonderwall  The two Gallagher brothers couldn’t stand the sight of each, coming to blows on more then one occasion.   Spice Girls – Wannabe Anyone who knows their Spice Girls trivia knows that there was growing tension in the camp before the girls called it a day. N.W.A – Express Yourself  Manager Jerry Heller caused a feud between Dr Drea and Eazy E

Pic of the Day- The Final Frontier!

Pictured in today’s Metro Herald is NASA’s space shuttle Atlantis touching down at The Kennedy Space Centre in Florida early yesterday morning. The landing of the 30 year old craft marks the end of NASA’s 30 year space journey. In its lifetime, Atlantis completed 33 missions clocking up a total of 203 million kilometres and circled the earth 4,848 times. Commander Christopher Ferguson eased Atlantis onto the runway and uttered the famous words ‘Mission complete Houston.’ to which Mission Control replied ‘Job well done America.’ NASA must now choose a rocket to complete its next big challenge- reaching Mars. I wonder

Sports Pic of the Day

The greatest partnership in golf is officially over and one of the individuals involved is not happy. Tiger’s former caddie, Steve Williams, has slammed the former world number 1, stating he has lost respect for his former boss. Williams feels somewhat bereaved with the lack of loyalty shown to him and maintains that he knew nothing of Tiger’s nocturnal habits. The New Zealander, who was once the country’s highest paid sportsman, hasn’t wasted time finding a new bag and has teamed up to become Adam Scott’s new caddie.

Creative Campaign- #TweetSweets

I came across this hilarious campaign yesterday evening but little had I known it had all kicked earlier that day. Brando an Irish integrated digital agency created a very clever Twitter campaign called #Tweetsweets which essentially sees them eating as many sweets as they can. The idea is that anyone on Twitter can tweet @brando_digital and ask them to eat sweets using the hashtag #TweetSweets Who doesn’t love sweets?? We all love sweets and Brando has decided to have some fun with their love for candy. They made a twitter operated gumball machine that delivers little doses of deliciousness whenever

Tabloid Tale of the week

Ever questioned the mentality of women such as Coleen Rooney, Stacey Cooke, Abi Clancy, or any other ‘famous-for-being-married-to’ model for that matter, for not giving their partner the bullet when they’ve been caught offside again and again? Well the term ‘stand by your man’ took on a whole new meaning on Tuesday last… and it had nothing to do with putting on a brave face in front of the worlds’ media upon hearing the other half has been playing away from home… Again. The woman in question was Wendi Deng, wife of media tycoon Rupert Murdoch, who was only too
