Pic Of The Day- Monkeying Around

Pictured in today’s Metro Herald is a 28-day old golden tiger cub being bottle fed by a cheeky chimp at Samut Prakan Crocodile Farm and Zoo. The zoo is located in the Samut Prakan province on the outskirts of Bangkok, Thailand.  Both parties look perfectly content as they pose for the camera. Monkeys are said to be closest in behaviour to humans, and the chimpanzee shows strikingly similar caring and nurturing qualities to those of a mother and baby. It’s nice to see the cheeky chimp playing ‘second mammy’ to the baby cub. Nicola.

Video of the Week – A Star is Born!

Meteor’s latest TV commercial features a familiar face for those who work at 16 Sir John Rogerson. Stephen Bradshaw who works for sister company Publicis QMP has become an overnight sensation following his roles as “Wide Leg Dave” (o.27sec). Bradshaw whose performance has been described as “incredible” is now setting his sights on Hollywood. In the elevator this morning, Bradshaw let slip that “Hollywood has always been the dream, now it’s just a matter of waiting for the best offer to come in. I’ve put a few feelers out and so far the response has been unreal man, they love

Has wolf been cried too many times?

Published on July 28, 2011 by in Uncategorized

Reports from an American couple are being investigated as they stated that they spotted a young girl matching Madeleine McCann’s description in the market of a Himalayan city in India.    This is not the first time that people have reported identifying Madeleine.  Portugese police have received thousands of phone calls ever since Madeleine’s disappearance on May 3rd 2007. Possible sightings have been reported in Spain, Morocco, Guatemala and Argentina all of which have been so far false. The Chandigarh Tribune newspaper reported; A French woman and a Belgian man who were with the girl insisted they were her

Pic Of The Day- Asleep at the Wheel

Pictured in today’s Metro Herald is a sleepy driver taking a nap on the front bonnet of his car. This definitely wasn’t any ordinary sight and the dreamer turned a few shoppers’ heads as he caught forty winks at the top of Dublin’s busy Grafton Street.  This man was happily snoozing yesterday as part of the Road Safety Authorities Campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of driving while tired.  The campaign begins ahead of the August Bank Holiday weekend, when thousands of car users are expected to hit the roads.  The long weekend will give us all the

Country Pages: 27th July 2011

Although I’m not familiar with the frivolities of the greater midlands area this past week, there has been one story in particular worth noting:  Tipp Band on Top  The big news in Co. Tipperary was the launch of a debut EP by local Nenagh band Raffiki. The band did a fantastic job getting a buzz going around town in the lead-up to Friday night by printing footprints all over the town. The footprints all led to the location of their launch – the notorious Kenyon bar. The band, who includes Grace Tooher, Jimmy Tooher, Ciarán Toohey, Seán Carroll, Brian Richardson

Creative Campaign – Sky Rainforest Rescue

In 2009, satellite broadcasting company Sky, in partnership with the WWF, launched the Sky Rainforest Rescue campaign which aims to save one billion trees in the state of Acre in the Brazilian Amazon. The aim of the campaign is to improve the livelihoods of poor families, protect habitats for threatened species and combat climate change. With carbon footprint and green house gases’ being the topic of the hour, it is quite a clever project for Sky to get involved with, as they seem to have successfully taken ownership of the “protecting the rainforest” cause. So far, it is win win

‘Kids Size Me’ – what a super idea!

I think the new initiative between the Restaurant Association of Ireland and the NHF for restaurants to introduce child size portions of adult meals is a fantastic one! The idea is so simple but has the capacity to be so effective in Ireland’s long term battle to fight child obesity. The initiative can be easily implemented by restaurants with minimal extra cost or effort but it will go a long way to encouraging children to eat healthier and develop an appetite for meals that include fresh fruit and veg, all of which will hopefully be sourced from local suppliers. It’s now down to parents to try and
