Sports Pic Of the Day – Why the Long Face

A horse gets a well deserved cooling down after yesterdays racing at Worcester in England. The facial expression of the horse does not give any indication as to whether the animal is actually enjoying it or not… Why the long face!!!

Pic of the Day – Papa does tweet!

Just in time for Social Media Day which takes place today, Pope Benedict is pictured in today’s Irish Examiner twittering around on an iPad. Pope Benedict is aiming to reach a mass audience as he gets ‘down’ with the young people and sends his first tweet from an iPad.   His first tweet was to announce the Vatican’s new website. He wrote: “Dear friends, I just launched News.va. Praised be our Lord Jesus Christ! With my prayers and blessings.”   This is the Vatican’s latest bid to tap into the online community after launching on Facebook and YouTube.  If you want to

London 2012 – The Opportunities for Ireland

What can only be described as an illuminating discussion took place in UCD this week. With little over a year to go, the great and the good of Irish sport gathered for a discussion on London 2012 and if and how Ireland and Irish sport can benefit from what is the closest thing to a “home” Games. When London won the bid to host the Games, Irish politicians and vested interests spoke of a huge opportunity. Now, 14 months out, what benefits are there for our athletes, our sports and facilities? To anyone with even a passing interest in sport,

Video of the Week

This particular ad has been out for some time but the more times I see the more it makes me laugh. H-Paris agency are the clever minds behind the latest Citroen ‘bip bip’ ad. This “Mr Bean” looking chap who drives an old car, brilliantly a emulate the sounds of a modern day car’s electronics. Some might say its not quite the most creative but it is funny nevertheless. . .

Pic of the Day – What’s up “Putty Tat”?

Pictured in today’s Metro Herald is a very grumpy little “Putty Tat” called Mr Pip.   This grumpy cat is constantly in a bad mood and detests noise, bad weather and football. No dog can out do this cat in a staring competition because this is in fact one of Mr Pip’s favourite hobbies.  I think Mr Pips might be quite the male diva and actually rules the roost.   Rose Oughton, the Persian-Burmese cross’ owner, said she was concerned about Mr Pips appearance so she took him to a vet but was told the glum look is a result of his

Pic of the Day – Me and my polar bear

Pictured in today’s Irish Sun are best buddies Mark and Agee.   The pair are so close they do everything together from wrestle, kiss, nap and even go swimming with each other.  Sixty stone Agee has formed an amazing bond with tamer Mark Abbot after Mark took her from a zoo as a cub to star in films and television ads.  Mark trusts Agee that much he willingly puts his head in the animal’s jaws.   Polar bears are among the world’s largest land predators but Mark said “We hand-reared Agee, so we’re really close.  Even so, I feel privileged to

Sports Pic of the Day

Kildare’s Andriu MacLochlain has a few choice words with referee Cormac Reilly after yesterday’s game in Croke Park between Dublin and Kildare. The man in black was centre of attention as he adjudged the Kildare corner back to have fouled Bernard Brogan in injury time resulting in the winning point. Dublin move forward to play Wexford in the Leinster Final while Kildare must go down the qualifier route
