Pic of the Day – If all else fails, sell yourself.

Pictured in today’s Irish Times is what you would call a last attempt of finding a job in Ireland. Féilim Mac An Iomaire who is an enthusiastic and determined jobseeker has come up with an innovative idea to find a job that will allow him to remain in Ireland. Using the last of his savings he has designed and paid for a billboard on the Merrion Road in Dublin.  The billboard advertises details for his CV and has the slogan: “Save Me From Emigration.” Let’s hope this last attempt to find a job works for Féilim.  We sure have to

Pic of the Day – Eye will break the record

Pictured in today’s Irish Independent is the Space Cowboy breaking a Guinness World Record on Grafton Street yesterday.  He broke the record for the most weight dragged by the muscles of the eye sockets.  The Australian showman entertained onlookers with sword swallowing and his daredevil act of pulling a tricycle carrying several people, with a combined weight of 414.3kg, 10 metres using only his eye sockets. Should you want more entertainment just like this, a visit to the Street Performance World Championship in Fitzgerald Park in Cork and People’s Park in Portlaoise, Co. Laois, on June 11th and 12th, and

Pic of the Day – Bear Hug

Pictured in today’s Metro Herald are five year old Sophie Cooke and Ailis Nolan getting the biggest bear hug ever!  The girls were helping to announce the details of the Bloom Kids Zone which is a free, child- friendly zone that will form part of the Bord Bia’s Bloom event. Bloom takes place in the Phoenix Park from June 2nd to 6th and will include daily teddy bear picnics, giant games, face painting and sports day activities. I am sure those bigger kids out there, will want to join in with the fun and frolics happening in the park too.

Pic of the Day – Cheeky Little Bear

Pictured in today’s Metro Herald is a cheeky little bear sticking out its tongue while getting a cuddle. This is just one of two twin bear cubs who are at Dalian Laohutan Ocean Park in China.  The park has been recruiting one hundred pairs of twin children to play with and feed the cubs.  The bears are coming on leaps and bounds since they were born weighing just 500g when they were born in January.  This cute picture would be sure to pull at your heart strings and you couldn’t be blamed if you too wanted a cuddle of this

Sports Pic Of The Day…

Last night’s Carling Nations Cup clash between Ireland and Northern Ireland finished 5-0 and was the biggest win of Giovanni Trapattoni’s tenure as Irish boss. The win however has been very much overshadowed by players not turning up for international duty and the poor attendance at the game.

Pic of the Day – Put em up!

Pictured on the front page of today’s Irish Independent is Michelle Obama ‘sparring’ with world champion boxer Katie Taylor.  This picture was taken after President Barack Obama delivered his speech at College Green in Dublin on Monday.  We have to wonder what is going through onlooker Ryan Tubridy’s head.  Maybe he is wondering who he would back to win hands down? It sure has to be said that the Obama’s have won the hearts of the Irish people from their short visit to our island.    Paula.

Pic of the Day – If you can’t beat them, join them

Pictured in possibly every paper today is none other than US president Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama enjoying a Guinness in Hayes Bar in Moneygall, Co. Offaly, during their visit to the president’s family roots.  After enjoying a glass of Guinness, Michelle asked to have a go at pulling a pint herself.  She pulled two perfectly, one for US Ambassador Dan Rooney and another for parish priest Fr Joe Kennedy.  Can the Americans pull a good pint? The answer from Barack Obama is ‘Is féidir linn’. To be reassured that the president of America pays his way, he
