VenueOne Exclusively Streams Inspirations Gig in aid of Barretstown

VenueOne, Ireland’s first ever social entertainment destination is exclusively streaming the third annual Inspirations Gig in aid of Barretstown live from The Olympia, Dublin this Friday, April 1st. The charity gig will feature some of Ireland’s finest home-grown talents such as Oscar winner Glen Hansard, Declan O’Rourke, Mik Pyro (Republic of Loose), The Stunning, Delorentos and Dirty Epics, who will perform well known songs from their musical heroes, notably David Bowie, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones and U2. Hosted by Ray D’Arcy, guests can expect to see unique medleys by Declan O’Rourke and Mik Pyro with the RTE Concert Orchestra

Pic of the Day – It’s muddy good fun

Yesterday was the day for getting down and dirty in Co. Kildare.  Over 500 people took part in the Mud Run 5k challenge at Moyvalley Hotel and Golf Resort to raise money for Barnardos.   The charity helps children and their families through community based centres, national services and links with partner organisations.   Pictured in today’s Star are some of the participants getting filthy while dressed in fancy dress for the occasion.  Who would have thought running around in mud would look like so much fun?

Ireland Has Cheapest Hotels in Western Europe

This week was an important one for our client Hotels.com who launched their 2010 Hotel Price Index which is  a survey of bookings made on Hotels.com across 130,000 hotels and 18,000 destinations comparing prices paid in 2010 to those paid in 2009. The HPI revealed that prices fell a further 4% in Ireland making our country the cheapest destination in western Europe, bringing average hotel room rates to just €79. Room rates in the capital fell 6% in 2010 to €73 making Dublin one of the best value city destinations in the world. Hotels.com president and Dublin native David Roche

Pic of the Day – Monkey Business

There is big news in Dublin Zoo that the pygmy marmosets, the world’s tiniest monkies, are now the proud parents of even tinier twin babies. The male marmoset, Mr. Big, has been living in Dublin Zoo since he arrived from Slovakia in 2007. Teeny, the female marmoset, arrived from Belfast Zoo last year, and when they met their tiny hearts began to flutter. The couple soon formed a close bond.
